“In the past, I thought that not many people cared of people with disabilities (PwD) but after the club for PwD was set up by the project, we were very happy and excited. People with disabilities have been empowered and supported with improving their lives and raising their voice. That is so meaningful for PWDs. Since the project reached Gio Viet commune, the lives of people with disabilities here have been greatly improved, many households have been supported with livelihood development and accessed to loan to do business. For example, Mr. Loi, a club member who borrowed VND 5 million from the project and added 4 million VND of his own capital to raise ducks for 6 months. After selling he could earn for more than 2 million VND as profit. This is the efficiency of the project with the aim of improving the lives of people with disabilities in the locality. Hopefully the project can stay with people with disabilities for many more years.” Mr. Bui Xuan But (a PwD, Head of the Pwd club of Gio Viet commune) shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Duyen - project officer shared about the project results last year
“In the past, my son was so quiet and afraid of strangers but since joining a community class for children with disabilities (CwD), he has often come home with singing and telling different stories and currently even counting numbers. Moreover, in the afternoon, he also knew how to get vegetables from the garden for me to cook. He is eager to go to class every day to meet his friends, to sing, and to paint. He has made a lot of positive changes since joining the class. We are thankful to the project for these community classes for children with disabilities.” Mrs. Ngo Thi Hoa (a mother of a child with a disability in Phong Binh commune) shared.

“Through the review meeting today and results shared by the Project Steering Committee, it can be seen that in the past 10 years the project has operated very effectively. Next year is the last year of the project, so I suggest that the commune staff should involve better in the project with the clubs to discuss how to maintain and develop the project results after its end. The People's Committees (PC) of communes should also consider integration of supporting activities for the PwD clubs into the general plan of the commune for better continuation and replication of the project in the coming time". Shared by Mr. Ho Van Ton, social policy officer of Trung Son commune PC.
