Caritas Australia, one of SRD's key donors, recently travelled to Vietnam for one of their regular update and monitoring visits. Mr Chanthea Nou, Program Coordinator for the Mekong Region, and Ms Zeynep Selcuk, Program Officer, visited us on March 5, 2012, and attended a workshop with all SRD staff.
The workshop was an opportunity to provide an update on SRD's programs, financial management, and the development of the strategic plan. We also provided detailed updates on two projects funded by Caritas Australia: Support to people with disabilities in Thua Thien Hue province, and Support of marginalized Thai ethnic communities to adapt to rapidly urbanizing surroundings, in Dien Bien province.
SRD's Finance Manager explained that SRD had grown significantly in recent years. In 2006 SRD had managed five projects, whereas in 2011 we completed 13 projects. Our budget over that time also nearly tripled. Mr Nou said he was very impressed with the progress of the projects since his previous visit last July and recognized the hard work of all SRD staff.
