VUSTA President’s visit to SRD

 SRD Management Board receives the President of VUSTA

Mr. Dang Vu Minh, the President of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), paid a visit to the Centre for Sustainable and Rural Development on the afternoon of 27 March 2012.

The Centre held a meeting to welcome the President and other VUSTA officers, attended by all SRD staff. At the meeting, SRD’s staff delivered a brief presentation about our development and achievements over the last six years. The presentation highlighted the contribution of SRD in terms of community development, poverty reduction and positive interventions in rural communities.  SRD has developed a complete package of human resources, financial, administration and program manuals. Financial issues were briefly discussed, explaining that SRD follows a very strict management system, and financial transparency and accountability are always ensured by independent auditing. Program activities were also covered; SRD has implemented over 20 intervention projects and 10 small-scale research projects across 15 provinces with total budget of approximately five million US dollars by 2012. SRD's projects have helped improve the life and develop sustainable livelihoods for thousands of households.

Mr. Minh applauded the achievements of SRD and was very impressed with the professional and dedicated team. He commented that SRD is one of the leading science and technology organizations registered under VUSTA. Furthermore, he emphasized the increasingly important role of non-government organizations, which are acknowledged by the government and VUSTA for the contribution for the development of the country.

The president received administration requests and recommendations of SRD and promised to facilitate related VUSTA units to speed up the procedures, providing favorable conditions for SRD as well as other member organizations of VUSTA. 

At the end of the meeting, the president wrote on the SRD memorandum: "I was very pleased to visit SRD and become more informed about their achievements over recent years. I wish SRD all the best for maintaining the values of the organization and have greater achievements in the coming time."
