On the 25th of February, The Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) and the Research Centre of Forest and Wetlands (ForWet) both representing the VNGO- FLEGT network, organized a workshop in Hanoi with regards to Draft 6: Timber and Timber Product Legality Definition by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (TLD 6) and appendix 3 of Timber Legality Assurance System (TLAS 3). The workshop brought together 19 member organizations and advisory members of the VNGO- FLEGT Network.

Representatives discussed and summarized formal comments from 10 organizations for draft 6TLD and 3 TLAS. One of the major discussions was how to ensure community participation in monitoring compliance with environmental protection regulations in harvesting, timber transport and processing. The workshop summarized and compiled 71 comments on TLD6 AND TLAS3 related to its viewpoint, terminology, interpretation, and content. These comments constitute an effort made by the VNGO-FLEGT Network in order to contribute to, and aid the VPA/FLEGT negotiations between Vietnam and the EU.
On the 26th of February, The Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) in collaboration with Forest Trends organized a workshop on introducing potential impact assessment methods of VPA in Vietnam. The workshop aimed to share information and help network members construct a plan on how to implement a suitable poverty impact assessment (PIA) in Vietnam. Workshops, training courses, and research will be conducted from March to September 2013 in order to improve VNGO-FLEGT's understanding of issues relating to the VPA/FLEGT.
