Under the Climate Change Capacity Building Project, a sharing workshop on good practices in responding to climate change was held on August 30 with the participation of representatives from different local and international non-governmental organizations, research institutes, universities, state agencies working in the field of climate change, and southern Vietnamese media.
In the workshop, representatives from Kien Giang, Da Lat, Long An, An Giang and Dong Thap provinces presented good practice model of responding to climate change. These incluced rice cultivations methods that release less greenhouse gases, participatory methodology for selecting rice seeds which adapt well to climatic changes to ensure food security, system of rice intensification (SRI), bio-gas models, forest protection and management and bio-diversify, safe vegetable prodcution, and state private partnership in responding to climate change. In the discussion session, participants enthusiastically shared their expereinces in developing climate change responses. Participants emphasized that the situation of climate change in the Mekong Delta is becoming increasingly complicated and provided positive feedback on knowledge and experience gained from the workshop for practical application. "The workshop was instrumental in connecting civil society organizations, research institutes, state sector and private sector together. Climate change is now a global pressing issue with more and more tangible impacts. We would like to have more opportunities to participate workshops like this one", said one participant.
