The communication workshop attracted the participation of more than 100 people of different ages. People participating, at first, seemed shy and quiet, however, no sooner had they seen some photos of climate change than they showed their concern by sharing ideas and answering project officiers' questions.
One day after the communication workshop, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Minh, the village leader of Thai Duong Ha Nam village, Hai Duong commune (where the workshop was held) said that "Yesterday, our villagers, especially the women and children were impressed much by the communication workshop. So far they have only heard news about climate change on TV without any perception of this and may be it also happens in other countries. Yesterday, through watching and hearing, we understood, everything is not a menace anymore. People confirmed that recent years it is getting hotter, the rain is getting colder, more long-lasting, many fish and shrimp died, may be due to pollutted enviroment and climate change. We wish that there are more and more communication workshops like this for people's better understanding of how to cope with natural disasters and climate change".
The news of the communication workshop was broadcasted and edited on TRT channel of Hue Television on the 15th and 17/7/2011. From now to 2/2012, the project will keep implementing activities such as building up village's rescue team, equipping some rescued equippment, annual plan on natural disaster reduction at village and household level, building early warning system at some in key areas; and experimenting and replicating some livelihood models adapting to natuaral disaster and climate change.
