On May 1st and 2nd , 2018 in Kathmandu, Nepal, the regional workshop of the FCPF-Capacity Building on REDD+ for Civil Society Organizations and Local Communities in the East Asia and Pacific Project was successfully held. The workshop was attended by selected civil society and local community organizations from the East Asia and the Pacific region, Regional Advisory Committee members, Asia Pacific CSO observers and the staff from ANSAB and World Bank supporting for the preparation of the subprojects. The workshop aimed at discussing and improving the selected national level capacity building sub-projects in the FCPF countries in the East Asia and Pacific along with the administrative, safeguards, M&E and reporting requirements of the sub-project activities, so that the proposed activities will be carried out effectively and timely with the desired project objectives. At the end of the workshop, three sub-projects from Vietnam and Fiji are ready to implement. SRD and PanNature are implementers of the two sub-projects in Vietnam. It is expected that the two sub-projects will be launched on 1st June 2018.
Earlier, five of ten sub-project proposals submitted by CSOs from Fiji, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam were shortlisted and sent to the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) members for technical evaluation (scores and feedbacks). Four proposed sub-projects were selected for presentation in this workshop.
