Post-Covid-19 basic food support to the impacted households having PwDs/CwDs

    From September 04 to September 7, 2020, the Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) cooperated with the People's Committees of communes under the project "Empowering People with Disabilities" (PwDs) to give 50 set of basic food stuff to households having PwDs/CwDs severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

    This is the first activity to be carried out in Quang Tri province after a social distancing period as well as traffic reconnection between the two provinces of Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue. This activity is meaningful in terms of sharing with people to overcome and to ease the difficulties after the pandemic.

    Mrs. Ph.T.D. - caregiver of the PwDs in Gio Linh town shared: “During the last was in need. This second wave, the project provided more essential ration and helped a lot. I thus feel verty thankful to the project.”.

 

    Mrs. H.T.T. - Member of the Phong Binh PwD Club said emotionally: “My family has also faced many difficulties recently, my children could not go to school, nor could I work so it has been very hard. During the pandemic time, the family have struggled to make our own ends meet. with a set of food from the project, I am very happy, my family can live with it for one to two months.”.

    Mrs. T.T.T. - Member of the Trung Hai PwD Club expressed: “The pandemic broke out again so things were very difficult, the children could not go to school, the older one could not go to work and my family could not sell agricultural products so it was struggling. Luckily, thanks to farming, we have rice to eat. We were also given a small amount of money from the local government due to Covid influence. Right now, the situation is quite better, so I also hope that the pandemic will be fully over soon so that we can earn a living easilier. Thank you for the project for sharing difficulties with us”.

 

    The activity was carried out after the quick survey on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the lives of people within the "Empowering PwDs" project, funded by Caritas Australia and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade through the Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) in Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province.
