The course is under the broader project “Putting lessons into practice: Scaling up people’s biodiversity management for food security” implemented by SEARICE (Philippines) in collaboration with SRD.

Especially, participants had a chance to practice baseline surveys with farmers in two project sites: Thai Binh and An Binh villages, Bao Ai communes, Yen Binh district.

Although the practice session lasted for one day, participants drew lessons learnt when working with farmers and were provided extensive knowledge of setting breeding goals. In the following days, participants reviewed lessons on breeding and then practiced varietal crossing techniques in the class. The course has successfully helped officers and key farmers to draw lesson learnt during project implementation from 2012 as well as put the learnings into practice in project sites.
