On July 17th and 18th 2015, an SRD delegation including representatives of SRD's leadership team and it's program officers conducted a field investigation in the Tinh Gia district of Thanh Hoa province. The purpose of the field trip was to explore opportunities to connect local businesses with poor single women headed households involved in the purchasing and processing of seafood. These women are beneficiaries that are being supported by the "Towards a sustainable livelihood for poor single women-headed households in Tinh Gia district" project being implemented by SRD over the course of the three years between 2015 and 2017 with funds from Manos Unidas.

During the two days, the SRD representatives and the leaders of the People's Committee and the Women's Union of Ninh Hai and Hai Ninh communes in Tinh Gia district of Thanh Hoa province had a critical discussion on the local mechanisms and policies that strengthen and promote linkages between local businesses and poor single women-headed households.
SRD's delegation met with the Director of Tinh Gia Fish Sauce Joint Stock Company to exchange information and explore potential opportunities to connect the local businesses with poor single women-headed households to supply seafood for the business, create employment opportunities and increase the income of the local women. The SRD representatives also visited manufacturers and witnessed the stages of production, processing and exporting seafood at the Tinh Gia Fish Sauce Joint Stock Company.

The delegation also had a detailed discussion on establishing purchasing and supply seafood groups for the businesses that would involve the local poor single women-headed households. After the field investigation SRD will outline a detailed proposal on associating, promoting and technically supporting plan for the initiative. It will involve collaborative action from the local authority, businesses and people in order to sustainably generate employment and income for poor single women- headed households in Hai Ninh and Ninh Hai communes.
