On 26th of September, in Hanoi, Vietnam NGO Network and Climate Change (VNGO & CC) in collaboration with the Center for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) organized a consultation workshop on reviewing and evaluating models for adaptation to climate change. This is an activity within the framework of the project " Enhance the involvement of civil and social organizations (CSO) in the process of National Adaptation Plan development" funded by the Global Environment Facility, UNDP.
Report on review and assessment of climate change adaptation models was builded based on reports, questionnaires, field trip information, and local workshops by expert group including Prof. Dr. Truong Quang Hoc, Institute of Natural Resources and Environment, and Mr. Hoang Thi Ngoc Ha, the Ecological Community Development Center. The workshop was aimed at consulting scientists and social organizations to select the most successful adaptation models for climate change to share with NAP drafting agencies and stakeholders.
The workshop shared the Roadmap for the National Plan for Climate Change Adaptation in the period of 2021-2030 and Vision of 2050; a set of criteria for assessing climate change adaptation models at the community level; Evaluation results of climate change adaptation models supported by social organizations. Also in the workshop, some of the most successful models were also shared such as Community-Based Adaptation Model for Climate Change in Cam Thuy District, Thanh Hoa Province; Forest Protection and Enrichment Model for Buffering Condition in Drought Conditions in Vu Quang, Ha Tinh; Village model adaptation to climate change in Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province.
Comments for the report will be supplemented and finalized to share with the NAP Drafting Committee and other stakeholders at the national workshop scheduled for November 2015.

At the end of the workshop, Ms. Hop thanked the delegates and summarized the results of discussions and comments from the participants. In addition, she announced that, together with the expert team SRD will strive to bring the best results. The expert team will face to the challenge of proposing policy recommendations to the government. In the coming time, SRD will coordinate with the CCA and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to draft the NAP and integrate the activities of local CSOs in the dialogue forum with government agencies.
