On July 10, 2018, one of the eight workshops on the climate smart rice (CSR) was held in Bo village, Muoi Noi commune, Thuan Chau district, Son La province. The purpose of the workshop was to summarize and evaluate the CSR model impacts and to plan for further implementation and replication in the next harvest seasons. The workshop attracted more than 70 participants, including 40 trainees, local people and delegates from many agencies and departments of Son La province, Thuan Chau district, neighboring communes, the Climate Change Working Group (CCWG), the Vietnam NGO Network on Climate Change (VNGO&CC) and other agencies in Hanoi city and Son La Province.
The workshop organized by the SRD Center and the Sub-Department of Plantation and Plant Protection in Son La province belongs to the "Agro-biodiversity conservation and development for poor communities in response to climate change - Son La Province" project, sponsored by Bread for the World and Manos Unidas.

A farmer reports on the whole process of CSR cultivation in the Spring crop in 2018 and its results. Some noticeable results include: The use of pure-line rice varieties helped reduce the amount of seedlings by two-thirds of its previous figure, the farmers fertilized the rice based on the stages of development and did not use herbicides; The amount of pesticide consumption decreased by a half (from 4-6 times to 2 times); the actual yield is estimated to increase about 30% compared to the spring crop of 2017
