“The support of the project is the driving force for us to strive!”

“The whole garden of melaleuca, banana, and cassava in my family has been blown down and spoiled and 30 geese also died. Now thanks to this support, I’ll buy 20 hens for producing eggs, I can have time to both take care of my husband who is paralyzed while maintaining the family income. I’m very delighted that I am able to continue to keep breeds again”- Mrs. Le Thi Quyt, a member of the Club of PwDs in Trung Son Commune and one of the households receiving the support shared her feelings.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Trung, the member of a livelihood group making incense belong to the club of PwDs in Trung Son commune confided: “After the flood, the goods and materials for making incense were seriously damaged. I will invest more in materials, especially agarwood products and thanks to this support, we have the spirit and the driving force to strive, work to restore and boost production”.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu from An Dong village, a member of the Club of PwDs in Trung Son commune whose roof was blown off, 1500 square meters flooded after floods and storms, she shared: “Recently, I have planted cassava again, I was worried about the roof if and where I could get money to repair. I’m very happy to receive the support from the project. I will borrow some more and then get the roof repaired”.

Ms. Hoang Thi Van in An Dong village in Trung Son commune shared: “With this support, I will restart raising pigs. Firstly, I will buy 2 piglets to raise for accumulating capital and then I will increase the number to 4. Next July, I will focus on garden reclamation of dead pepper. I will also join the PwDs club in the near future so that I can learn how to better take care of children with disabilities from other young parents”.

Those are some sharing of PwDs and their caregivers in Trung Son commune on March 18, 2021, reported when they came to receive support for livelihood recovery.

 

Livelihood recovery support, garden and cattle sheds improvement, house repair for PwDs families suffered from natural disasters in October 2020 are part of the project titled "Recovery support for the flood affected households having PwD/CwDs in Gio Linh district, central Vietnam” (VM071), funded by Caritas Australia. Previously, those in the communes of Gio An and Gio Chau have received support.

 

In the coming week, the project will continue to hand over this support others in Trung Hai commune and Gio Linh town, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province.
