Within the scope of the 2018-2019 work plan, on 31st May, 2019, the Center for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) and some projects which support disabled and children in Quang Tri province coordinated with Gio Linh district People's Committee and Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Gio Linh district organized fun activities, exercise and practice some skills to prevent injury accidents, respond to launch the month for children in 2019 Gio Linh district with the theme "Joining hands for poor children and ethnic minority children".
Participating in the activity, there were more than 270 officials of the commune, town and youth union members, pioneers and young children of Gio Viet commune, Cua Viet town, Gio Linh town, Gio Chau, Gio Phong, Trung Hai, Gio Son, Vinh Truong, Gio An, Trung Giang, Trung Son, Gio Hai, Gio My.
Activities were organized with various content divided into many parts of the day, such as the contest of Ringing the Golden Bell which was communication on children's rights and mine prevention; Art corner of the painting to encourage at the summer camp of each unit; fast camping and country decoration pavilion; sharing about prevention of sexual abuse and violence in children; Primary training to rescue drowning victims and some collective games, training other life skills.
“I find it necessary and helpful to be listened and trained on first aid for drowning people to help friends and others when needed. This is the first time I learnt it, it is not difficult but it must be accurate and timely”, shared by a junior high school student from Gio Chau commune.
This is an annual activity in Gio Linh district of the Centre for SRD through the project "Empowering people with disabilities" in Gio Linh district in coordinating with and supporting local partners to create a useful and practical playground for young children and youth to exchange, study and practice their life skills in the community, preparing for a safe and rewarding summer.
