SRD on the list of 101 bright spots in the food system

It is our honor to announce that SRD is included in The list of 101 facts that make us hopeful about the future of food, released by Food Tank on February 25, 2015.

Food Tank is a non-profit organization whose mission is to build a global community for safe, healthy, and nourished eaters. The organization offers solutions and environmentally sustainable ways of alleviating hunger, obesity, and poverty by creating a network of connections and information for all of us to consume and share.

In the hope of “inspiring eaters, businesses, researchers, scientists, funders, donors, and policy makers to create—and support—a more sustainable food system, Food Tank published a list of organizations, individuals and initiatives that have made great strides in addressing the most pressing issues in food and agriculture. The list consists of some well-known names such as Instagram and The United Nation Food and Agriculture Organization.

It gives SRD deep pleasure to be named in The list of 101 facts that make us hopeful about the future of food for improving and implementing “efficient and sustainable farming practices throughout Vietnam, bolstering community organizations and empowering local farmers.” This has shown the capacity of SRD to become a professional Vietnamese non-governmental organization. We take this as great encouragement for what we have been doing over the last 9 years in supporting poor rural communities to adapt to the changing environment and sustainably manage their livelihoods.

Heading into 2015, marked by international recognition for our work by Food Tank, SRD looks forward to a year filled with opportunities, challenges and promise to consistently pursue our established objectives and to learn from, seize and grow through the challenges that we face.
