In order to monitor the impact of the VPA / FLEGT agreement on forest plantation households and wood processing enterprises in Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province, SRD and The Center for Environment and Biological Resources conducted an initial data collection survey. The survey was conducted from the 19th to the 24th of September 2018. The survey team directly collected information from, 189 forest planting and exploiting households in Ngoc Lam and Thanh Thuy, 10 wood processing enterprises in Thanh Chuong district, and the authorities and relevant departments in 2 communes and districts.

Thanh Chuong is one of three areas in Vietnam (Thanh Thuy district in Phu Tho province, Thanh Chuong district in Nghe An province and Krong Bong district in Daklak province) selected by SRD and the VNGO & FLEGT Network, to measure the impacts of the VPA / FLEGT agreement on forest plantation households and small wood processing enterprises. This activity has received financial and technical assistance from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to provide recommendations and intervention methods to ensure that these populations are not harmed and are benefited by the VPA / FLEGT agreement.

After the data collection survey in October, in Krong Bong district, in Daklak province, SRD and the VNGO & FLEGT Network will finalize the survey report for the core group on the VPA / FLEGT agreement and related parties.
