Following the success of the media events about mangrove forest in the framework of Forest and Delta Project, took place in Da Loc commune, Hau Loc, Thanh Hoa, between April and May, SRD kept conducting 02 more activities in mid-August from 15th to 19th. They were "Community volunteering to plant mangrove forest" and "Media painting contest about mangrove fore
The first activity, "Community volunteering to plant saline forest", did attract a numbers of participants including adults, teenagers and children of 10 villages in Da Loc commune. With the slogan: "Every plant starting thousands of lives," Da Loc community joined hands in planting 1500 of "ban chua" (Sonneratia caseolari) – a kind of pioneering plant in wetland ecosystem, dominating one in the Northern mangrove and played important role in restraining mudflats and alluvium (1)

Active participation of local people in reforestation proved that the effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization of SRD's media activities and contest as well. Not only are farmers increasingly better understanding the value and great meaningof mangroveforest in their life and but they also enhance their responsibility for planting, managing and protecting mangrove forest - "Cradle of life, home of peace "- the dyke of Da Loc commune.

After an enthusiastic day of forest plantation, a mangrove forest is planted
SRD co-operated with People's Committee of Da Loc commune to intergrate commune's in annually traditional event - "Da Loc youth summer camp" with the communication contest about mangrove forest. The contest was held at the stadium of Da Loc. There are thousands you with the participation of thousands young teenagers and local people of 10 different villages in Da Loc commune in and its neighboring areas.

The contest consisted of 3 main parts: painting, presenting and spreading messages of mangrove forest. Each team of 10 villages nominated 3 members to draw a picture based on Da Loc's drawing about mangrove forest with messages relating to people's life. Despite the unfavorable weather condition, the contest was held in happy and exciting atmosphere along with rousing cheers from the audience. Till the end moment, the more determination to win the victory was expressed by each member.

The teams' talent was revealed through not only their paintings but also their presentation and ability to transmit messages on mangrove forest plantation, management and protection.. With the eyes of the young generation, the teams expressed close messages and ways of dissemination through extracurricular activities and also from their own teachers' lectures.

Media event addressing tomangrove forest is one of the project's activities to promote the participation of local people and local authorities in sustainable forest conservation, development and exploitation. Thereby, the project will continue building the plan appealing for other civil society organizations as well as enterprises to get more number of trees to create a thicker and greener tree belt.
